German F4 in Oschersleben: Nice overtakes to conclude the weekend with a top-10 finish
Tonight, Kami Laliberté is a clearly relief young driver who has already begun to think of his next month German Formula 4 series meeting, now that he has completed with a more encouraging result his weekend on the Oschersleben racecourse where yesterday, after a beautiful pole position he encountered difficulties in the two races on the program of the day. This morning, starting from 12th place on the grid, the Canadian managed to overtake four other drivers in the 18-lap race to finally see the checkered flag in 8th position, earning his 8th top-10 this season. In control and putting behind yesterday’s misfortunes, the Van Amersfoort Racing team driver was also able to pick valuable points that kept him 7th in the season's overall standings, just six points behind the fifth place.
"It was much better than yesterday. I started 12th but on this circuit where it is now much more difficult to overtake, I worked well to reclaim four places and finally finish 8th. This is quite positive, although yesterday I was happy with my pole position. I now want to look forward and prepare for the next Nurbürgring event where my goal is to pick up a maximum number of points in order to climb in the standings, "concluded the Canadian driver.
Laliberté and his German Formula 4 championship rivals will in fact be back on track Friday, August 4th for their 5th series round, this time on the Nurbürgring, the legendary course set in in the Eifel Mountains in the western part of the country. Once again, three events are on the program at the 2.629 kilometer long 16-corner track which the Montreal born driver is familiar with to have raced there the last two years.
